Volunteer on Election Day – Tuesday, April 26, 2016

As you all know, primary election day in Pennsylvania is only a few weeks away – Tuesday, April 26th. The leadership at Area 2 Upper Perkiomen Democratic Committee let us know that there are some volunteer positions, and one paid position, still open at polling places in the Upper Perkiomen Valley. Anyone able and interested in helping out should contact Elaine Hannock directly – ehannock@gmail.com

At the polling sites, we have 2 types of help – paid and volunteer. Paid positions are at least a 14 hour commitment – from about 6 a.m. to about 9 p.m. (an hour before the polls are open to after the voting count in done). Volunteers can volunteer to help anytime the polls are open (between 7 a.m. – 8 p.m.)

We currently have one paid position open; the Minority Inspector at Pennsburg (the Pennsburg polling place is now at the the Pennsburg Borough Hall, 76 W. Sixth Street).

As always, volunteers are needed to work outside the polls.

Kline Band will start the music at 6:30 p.m. Ticket price ($25 per person, $40 per couple) includes a light dinner. Cash bar on site benefits Green Lane Fire Company. There are a limited number of tickets, so we suggest you buy them in advance – contact Kathy Kulp; email kathy.kulp@yahoo.com for tickets.

Let’s Go to the Movies!

Every now and again UPDC members and friends have gone out to the movies as a group, and more times than not it has been to a Michael Moore film. Well, here we go again.

Michael Moore’s latest release Where to Invade Next? opens at the 19th Street Civic Theater in Allentown this Friday. We are inviting UPDC folks and friends to carpool or meet us at the theater on Saturday evening, March 5, 2016. Those interested in carpooling should meet up at 124 Washington Street, East Greenville, PA – we’ll be leaving for Allentown at 7 p.m. If you’d rather meet us at the movie theater, be at the 514 Theater (19th Street, Allentown – behind the Fairgrounds) by 7:45 p.m. for the 8 p.m. show.

General admission tickets are $10, seniors and students are $8.
